Precision unit conversion
Fuel economy is the trickiest of these three, because mpg and L/100km measure fuel efficiency in inverse ways — a higher mpg is better, but a lower L/100km is better, which makes direct comparison confusing without a converter.
UK and US gallons are different sizes (see the Volume page), so "mpg" means a different real-world efficiency depending on which country's gallon is being used — a UK mpg figure is always a higher number than the equivalent US mpg figure for the same actual efficiency.

Divide 282.481 by the mpg figure. So 40 mpg (UK) works out to about 7.06 L/100km.
No — a US gallon is smaller than a UK gallon, so for the same real-world fuel efficiency, the US mpg figure will always be a lower number than the UK mpg figure.
Multiply degrees by π/180 (approximately 0.0174533). So 90° is π/2 radians, about 1.5708 rad.
